Technique
I start my work by sketching out my concept. When my ideas become clear, I move on to choosing the palette of fibers and wire.

Sometimes I weave, sometimes I knit or I knot. I make handmade felt and I include colored wire.

Each one of my pieces takes months to complete. There are several handmade elements that need to be worked together.

I used to frame my work with mat board, glass and a frame. However, these pieces should not be under glass. The texture is a bit lost under glass. Instead, I am framing these with custom weavings. The rich woven background is the perfect framing method for these pieces.

Once the weaving for the frame is finished, then I work to incorporate all the pieces together. About six months after the initial sketches were drawn, the artwork is ready to be hung on the wall.

This art will last for hundreds of years No glue is used. Everything is hand stitched. Cleaning only requires an occasional vacuuming with an upholstery brush. It is recommended to keep this work away from constant direct sunlight.

I am enjoying working in this medium very much. I still consider myself to be a painter - I am just use fiber instead of paint. I love the warm texture and rich color of these pieces. I hope you will enjoy them too. Thank you for visiting my site.
